The Sandwich Generation: Care For the Caregiver in Mt. Laurel New Jersey

“The sandwich generation”: those caught between concern for their aging parents and their children. Many baby boomers (the generation born between 1946-1961) are a part of the sandwich generation. The typical “baby boomer” is a 46 years old woman, after some college education and work full time. This is the typical demographic of the person who tries to balance a full-time job, caring for elderly parents and care for their growing children. It goes without saying that trying to juggle these responsibilities come at a cost usually on the caregiver. But who cares for the caregiver? If you are in this group, it is very important to remember to take care of themselves. If you do not do so, the burden of juggling so many responsibilities take its toll on you. Remember, you are not good if you take no interest in it from you. There are several things you should do to take care themselves. The first is to eat well. Avoid junk foods and simple carbohydrates, such as increased insulin and actually increase your stress. Sign up in the list of people you care, make yourself a priority. You can not care for others if you can sink your own health and wellbeing. Taking care of yourself has become a necessity, not a pleasure. Think like this way foreign but remember, it is not optional. Think you spend out time with family and friends. You’ve earned it, that time and it can strengthen you to continue as a true caregiver. Many people find themselves spread too thin, and when you have to give something, it’s usually the time spent with family and friends. Call for brothers and / or sisters share the load. In the longer term, caring for aging parents impossible to do alone, especially if you work full time. Talk with siblings and ask them how they participate in the care of parents. It is not a burden on the only one. Consider utilizing the services of an agency for home care. Affordable in home care are available to relieve you of some of the activities of daily living. Help for assistance with bathing, cooking disposal, cleaning, washing, shopping, and general camaraderie. This can spend an inexpensive way for you free up to time with your old parents. Consider obtaining the necessary documents to designate a power of attorney, it should be necessary. As a supervisor of an aging loved one is never an easy task, but by itself is a priority, and using the help of others, you can take a grip healthier and longer.
